New year - New Snow

While we haven’t kicked off with the cooperation from Mother Nature that we have liked, we are excited for what’s to come in this new year, with 2025 in the rearview.

Sometimes in our lives we all have pain, we all have sorrow, but if we are wise, we know that there’s always tomorrow for the temperatures to drop and this precipitation to turn back into the snow we are all surely longing for.

In the meantime, visit Outer Limits or the HPC to get some fresh gear (or existing gear in tip-top shape) or start our inhouse Holistic Wellness Program – Get Shreddy – to get yourself prepared for the rigors of the long season ahead.

Caring cupboard

Our Mt. Hood Meadows and Cooper Spur team members are a large part of what makes working here so enjoyable.  We care about each other and take care of our own.

Some of our team members have had an especially challenging time financially and are experiencing food scarcity.

We created a little food pantry or ‘caring cupboard’ in the team lounge (MHM South lodge basement) to help those team members who could use it during difficult times.

We’ve received contributions of food, toiletries, and funds to replenish supplies from some very kind and generous team members which have been used to stock the caring cupboard food pantry.

We are inviting team members who need these items to take what they need.

For those who would like to contribute:

We have found that the proteins including peanut butter and canned meats (tuna, chicken, SPAM) are going fast, as well as toiletries (soap, shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.).

Some suggestions for contributions:

  • Shelf stable milk including dairy, almond, oat, soy
  • Oil (vegetable, olive, avocado, etc.)
  • Flour/masa
  • Soup
  • Sauces (spaghetti, alfredo, etc.)
  • Cereal
  • Oatmeal
  • Jam/jelly
  • Bread
  • Produce:
    • Pears
    • Apples
    • Onion
    • Potato
    • Garlic
    • Anything that does not need refrigeration
  • Toiletries including:
    • Bar soap
    • Shampoo/condition (separate or combined)
    • Body wash
    • Deodorant
    • Toothpaste
    • Toothbrushes
    • Disposable razors (men’s and women’s)
    • Dental floss

If you have any questions or if you would like to contribute funds to the caring cupboard, email donations@skihood.com.

We will no longer be printing physical vouchers (Chits – for you patrollers) but will instead be loading them onto your RTP profile as vouchers.

Respect the Ride: Team Member Bus Reminder

To help ensure smooth, safe, and reliable transportation for everyone, we’d like to share a few important reminders about using the team member bus.

Bus use is intended for scheduled workdays only. Drivers are scheduled and routed with the expectation that team members will board on uphill routes only. Allowing or suggesting boarding on downhill routes creates confusion and operational challenges.

Once buses depart Meadows on their downhill routes, drivers will only stop at locations where team members are scheduled to get off. For example, if no one on a Hood River route is scheduled to exit in Parkdale, the bus will not stop there. This means team members should not rely on downhill routes for pickup or “catching” the bus later.

Our transportation routes are planned intentionally to ensure:

  • Everyone has a seat

  • Buses are not overloaded

  • We can accurately track ridership

  • Team members have a safe and comfortable ride

Using the bus as a “hop-on, hop-off” service—especially on downhill routes—makes this difficult and impacts our ability to support the system effectively.

On uphill routes, team members should remain on the bus until arrival at Meadows, unless there is an emergency or urgent situation. Exiting the bus mid-route can cause delays, add stress for our drivers, and impact fellow riders.

The team member bus is a valuable benefit designed to support our operations and our people. Thank you for helping us keep transportation running smoothly by using it as intended and being respectful of drivers and fellow team members.

If you have questions about routes or schedules, please reach out to your supervisor or HR.
